Zara Makes Me Happy.

Here are Zara’s Fall/Winter 2009 collections: the older more sophisticated looks, as well as, the younger looks. I love them both and can’t wait to go purchase some things. The structured shoulders, in the older collection, are really hot and remind me a lot of Balmain, and I could definitely see Beyonce rocking a few of these looks.

BET Awards…Fashion Do’s.

Last night’s BET Awards were anything but appeasing, yet there were a few fashions that kept me intrigued.

bet2

First, there’s my wife and all time favorite female singer, Beyonce Knowles, sporting none other than a Balmain mini-dress. Regardless of what anyone says, I feel that the silhouette is amazing and the color adds just enough of a pop. If you had a body like her’s you’d wanna show it off too. Let’s just be glad she didn’t wear one of Tina’s originals.

Next there’s my boy Drake, with a pretty casual approach. Tip to Ciara, this is how you pull off casual on a Red Carpet. From the cardigan to the ankle boots, I’d def rock this ensemble. [BTW I think he made sitting on a stool rapping look pretty smooth. Hope the ACL heals.]

Beat-yonce.

beyonce

So I was over at The Fashion Bomb and I stumbled upon this BEAT picture from Beyonce’s concert in a post about what’s best to wear to one. I just thought I’d brighten up everyone’s day with a fierce picture of Sasha herself. Only she can have a background dancer in what looks like red plastic, spandex and make it look ravishing. Can’t wait to go see this in person.

Videos That Inspire.

So every now and again there is a video produced by some “iconic-being” that is the portal to some new fashion era. In 2007, Beyonce Knowles put in place the ideal that when females steps out they should put on a dress that makes the guys want to freak’um. With this came a video showcasing how and what to wear to make this work just right. Now, every time I’m at a club or see one of my homegirls on the way there, I see nothing but breast, legs and thighs; all that’s missing are the wings.

‘Freakum Dress’ is Urban Couture’s first video that has inspired a new fashion craze but it won’t be our last; and in true Urban Couture style, I must leave you with some places to find your very own freakum dress. Keep in mind that this season’s freakum dress is a more sophisticated approach, but will still bag you that guy at the bar. Betsey Johnson has been making dresses for awhile now, but she has now grasped Beyonce’s ideal with this season’s collection. Check it out!!!

Does Music Influence Style??

As a generation fully indulged in pop culture and the music era, the question arises, “Does music influence style?” If you’re an avid listener to hip-hop does that mean you wear baggy jeans and graphic tees with high-top Jordans, or if you listen to alternative rock that you wear skinny jeans and military jackets with a five year old pair of Chuck Taylors?? We all know that the artists of the said music genres follow these stereotypes for the most part but do we as a people?? I personally believe that we do.

From day to day I see a number of college students walking around with iPods and other mp3 players singing along to songs of their choice. Guys with “baggier” pants and Polo shirts are usually listening to the Kanye’s, Weezy’s and maybe even the Common’s, while girls with tight jeans, name brands such as Baby Phat, Dereon and Apple Bottom with thick weaves bump their Keyshia Cole’s, Beyonce’s and Trey Songz. Then you have guys like me that wear fitting to slightly tighter jeans, button downs and sweaters, funky jackets and hoodies, designer accessories, sneakers or sometimes dress shoes, that listen to a variety of artists from Ryan Leslie to Feist, Gucci Mane to Adele and Keri Hilson to Elbow (Great Indie Group). There are even the chicks that wear five inch heels, designer jeans, designer bags, bohemian blouses with natural hairstyles, listening to the Lauryn Hill’s, Jill Scott’s and Raphael Saadiq’s. If you don’t believe me go check for yourself!!! Better yet, let me know how you feel. Drop a comment with your opinion.

2009 Golden Globe Awards

This year’s Golden Globe Awards were pretty mediocre when it came to fashion. Although when someone was on, they were ON. Here are a few of the “Best Dressed” of the night.

Kate Beckinsale looked fairly, flawless in her form fitting beige J.Mendel “mermaid” gown.

Tom Cruise stole the scene with a subtle, but stylish black tuxedo. The fit was exquisite.

Another Red Carpet Cutie was the soulful, yet “Diva-licious” Beyonce Knowles. In an Elie Saab bust-busting original, it was good that Beyonce brought along husband, Jay-Z, or she may have went home with me!!!

Beyonce Cece'

This trio is a total knockout when it comes to the fashion game. The Jonas Brothers are young, debonair and the epitome of stylish. The kind of guys that I would keep in my company. Their appearance at the Golden Globes was so appreciated that they’re ALL over flickr when you type in 2009 Golden Globe Awards. Check it out for yourself.

Last, but CERTAINLY not least, is the illustrious Eva Longoria. As the Best Dressed of the night, Eva wore a lucious red Reem Acra nightgown, letting everyone know that it’s never wrong to be “extra.” Kudos Eva, and congrats to everyone that made my list.
